May 1st at Saint-Cloud: A Clash of Generations in the Prix du Muguet!
This Thursday, May 1st, the Saint-Cloud racecourse will host a new edition of the Prix du Muguet (Gr2), a strategic springtime rendezvous over the mile. A high-class race, rich in promise, where rising stars and seasoned champions will battle it out on the turf.
Seven runners will go to post, including Tribalist, André Fabre’s trainee, who will be eager to put a low-key seasonal reappearance behind him. With a royal pedigree, Tribalist returns to the turf to reaffirm his talent in a race where a sharp break will be crucial. His main rival, No Lunch, who finished ahead of him at Chantilly before struggling in Dubai, is also back with strong ambitions. According to his connections, he is in excellent form and could well reverse the previous outcome.
Another serious contender is Tumbler, one of the most consistent performers of the early season. After finishing third in a Group 3 race, he steps into a deep field here, but trainer Nicolas Caullery is expecting a solid performance. To challenge him, Zoom and Vertbois, two highly regarded runners from the Wertheimer & Frère stable, will look to showcase their speed.
But the dark horse of the moment could very well be Ozat, the revelation from Jérôme Reynier’s yard. After two commanding victories over the winter, this lively and adaptable runner is taking his first steps at Group level – and he looks ready to make an impact.
The Prix du Muguet promises real, pure sport – best experienced live at Saint-Cloud, where the excitement of a close, tactical race could shape the season’s landscape for top milers.
And because tradition and conviviality are part of Saint-Cloud’s DNA, 2,000 lucky sprigs of lily of the valley will be gifted to spectators on the day!
