ParisLongchamp ends the season in style

The Prix du Conseil de Paris (Group 2, 2,200 metres), scheduled for Sunday at 3:50pm, will be the highlight of the final meeting of the year at ParisLongchamp. A strong field has been assembled, including the talented Lapothéose, winner of the Camille Pissarro Coolmore Prix Saint-Alary (Group 2) and runner-up in the Preis der Diana (Group 1), the German equivalent of the Prix de Diane. Her trainer, Yann Barberot, has made this race her end-of-season target. She will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing last-place finish in the Qatar Prix Vermeille (Group 1) on September 6.
An impressive winner of The Aga Khan Studs Prix Nureyev (Listed), Zaraki, trained by André and Lavinia Fabre, also disappointed during the Arc Trials, finishing last in the Qatar Prix Niel (Group 2). The gelding runs in the colours of Wertheimer & Frère, who will also be represented by Sinéleo and Nitoi, both trained by the same team. The race will also see the return of Best Secret, trained by Stéphane Wattel for Wathnan Racing. He ran a respectable race in the competitive Hardwicke Stakes (Group 2) at Royal Ascot in June.
Two Listed races for fillies and mares will follow. At 4:25pm, the Prix Casimir Delamarre (3yo+, 1,800 metres) is likely to feature Pierchic, trained by Henri-Alex Pantall, as the favourite. Then, at 5:00pm, the Prix de Saint-Cyr (3yo, 1,400 metres) has attracted 16 entries, including several runners from Britain.
The day will begin with two interesting races for unraced 2-year-olds. In the Prix de la Chapelle (fillies), at 1:58pm, Rose Lake will make her debut. By champion sire Frankel, she is the first foal out of Sea La Rosa, who won the Qatar Prix de Royallieu (Group 1) at ParisLongchamp during the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe weekend. Rose Lake is trained by André Fabre and runs in the colours of Godolphin, owned by the Maktoum family.
In the Prix de Belleville (colts and geldings), at 2:33pm, trainers Pia and Joakim Brandt will saddle Double Bid, a brother to Classic winner Look de Vega, who won the Qatar Prix du Jockey Club (Group 1) in 2024.
