Saint-Cloud hosts the final three Group 1 races of the season

Eight races, three Group 1s and three Group 3s: Sunday’s meeting at Saint-Cloud promises a fantastic day of top-class racing! The card features the final three Group 1 races of the French season, including two major contests for the younger generation.
The 2-year-olds will take centre stage first in the Critérium International (Gr.1), run over 1,600 metres. Seven colts will line up, including two trained in France, three in Britain and two in Ireland. It promises to be an exciting international contest, with the French runners hoping to end a long wait for victory, as no French-trained horse has won this race since 2013!
Just over an hour later, attention will turn to the Critérium de Saint-Cloud (Gr.1), this time run over 2,000 metres. Once again, seven runners will take part, including just one filly – and she is French! Her connections have decided to supplement Just Yet at a cost of €18,000 to give her the chance to compete. It is an ambitious challenge for the filly, who will face some experienced colts trained across the Channel.
Finally, the Prix Royal-Oak (Gr.1), a 3,100-metre staying contest for horses aged three and older, will complete this prestigious programme. The race will be particularly special as it is expected to mark the final appearance of 6-year-old Double Major. Having won the race twice, in 2023 and 2024, the champion will be looking to end his racing career on a high. He will then return to his owners’ stud for a well-deserved retirement.
