Entries revealed for 2025 Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe

Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe

Entries for the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe closed on 14 May 2025 at 10h30. A total of 78 entries, compared to 73 last year, have been received for the Gr1 race that takes place on Sunday, 5 October 2025.

Last year’s Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Bluestocking does not feature among the entries as she has been retired to stud. However, some of her former rivals, including runner-up Aventure, third placed Los Angeles, fourth placed Sosie and fifth placed Sevenna’s Knight have all received entries for the race.

    Six Japanese horses entered

The Japanese dream of winning the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe is well alive. Six Japanese trained horses have been entered in this year’s race compared to three in 2024 and 2023.

Two 3yo Japanese horses feature among the entries, including Croix du Nord, who was crowned champion two-year-old last year after he lifted the Gr1 Hopeful Stakes. Runner-up on his seasonal reappearance in the Japanese 2,000 Guineas, he is now targeting the Japanese Derby on 1 June 2025 at Tokyo. The other three-year-old Japanese entry is the Hiroyasu Tanaka trained Alohi Alii. He is owned by Tsuyoshi Suzuki, who only recently told the Japanese media of his dream of winning the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

The Japanese four-year-old Regaleira, champion two-year-old filly in 2023 and 2024 winner of the Arima Kinen, Japan’s most prestigious and sought-after race, has also been entered. Like Croix du Nord, she is trained by Tetsuya Kimura, who was the handler of the 2023 world’s best racehorse Equinox.

Also entered in the Arc is the four-year-old Redentor who was an impressive winner of the Tenno Sho ( Prix de l’Empereur), where he beat Byzantine Dream, the winner of the  Gr2 Longines Red Sea Turf Handicap in Riyadh earlier this year.

Last but not least, Shin Emperor, who ran in the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in 2024, has also received another entry for this race. Bred in Normandy by the Monceaux stud, he is the full brother to 2020 Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Sottsass who now pursues his stallion duties….in Japan! His trainer Yoshito Yahagi told the Japanese media that the 2025 renewal of the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe is one of Shin Emperors’s targets this autumn, with maybe a prep run before in the Gr2 Qatar Prix Foy, one of the Qatar Arc Trials that take place on Sunday, 7 September 2025 at ParisLongchamp.

Former female winners of the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe are counting on their off-spring

Three horses entered in this year’s Arc are direct descendants of fillies and mares that have won the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe since 2000. The Aga Khan Studs owned and Francis-Henry Graffard trained Zarigana is the granddaughter of the unbeaten filly Zarkava, who won the Arc in 2008. Internaute, who is owned by the Wertheimer Brothers and is trained by Christopher Head (Chantilly, Oise), is a son of 2012 Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Solemia. As to Doha, who is trained in England by Ralph Beckett for Al Shaqab Racing, she is a daughter of dual Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Trêve, who was successful in 2013 and 2014. Her sire Sea The Stars is also a winner of the Arc. He won the race in 2009.

    Entries according to countries :

    26 French-trained

    28 British-trained

    13 Irish-trained

    6 Japanese-trained

    5 German-trained

The Arc: the final of the Arc Races

The Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe is the final of the Arc Races, a new format that was presented to the media on Sunday, 11 May 2025 at ParisLongchamp. Winners of the Arc Races will be granted a Wildcard to run in the Arc, provided they meet the race conditions. If there are too many starters (Maximum of 24 starters), Arc Races winners will be given priority and will not be included in the elimination procedure. France Galop will also refund their entry fees (€8,300), while horses that have not been entered will be given the opportunity of an entry window 15 days after the official closing date. Once again this year, the winner of the Grand Prix de Paris will have entry fees for the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe refunded, or will receive a free supplementary entry for the race. And for those who haven’t earned a Wildcard come September, the Qatar Arc Trials offer an unprecedented opportunity to qualify!
