A stellar card for the opening fixture of the Barrière Deauville Meeting

On Sunday 2 August, Deauville-La Touques Racecourse will stage a day of top-class racing. The eight-race programme features four Group contests, headed by the Prix Rothschild – Fonds Européen de l'Élevage (Gr1), the first Group 1 of the summer meeting.

The afternoon begins with the spotlight on the two-year-old generation. The fillies will open proceedings in the Sky Sports Racing Prix Six Perfections – Fonds Européen de l'Élevage (Gr3) over 1,400 metres, before the colts and fillies line up for the Prix de Cabourg – Fonds Européen de l'Élevage (Gr3) over 1,200 metres. Trainer Francis-Henri Graffard is strongly represented in both races, saddling Queen of The Day in the Prix Six Perfections, while Primetime Emmy and Jorolina will contest the Prix de Cabourg.

The third Group feature is the Sky Sports Racing Prix Psyché – Fonds Européen de l'Élevage (Gr3) over 2,000 metres for three-year-old fillies, traditionally a key stepping stone towards the major autumn targets. Fifth in the Prix de Diane Longines (Gr1), the French-trained Evita drops back in grade and looks one of the leading contenders.

The highlight of the day is the Prix Rothschild – Fonds Européen de l'Élevage (Gr1), which brings together the elite of the miling division for fillies and mares aged three and upwards. Eight runners will bid to succeed last year's winner Fallen Angel. Britain once again appears to hold a leading hand with Blue Bolt, the Juddmonte representative trained by Andrew Balding. She arrives on the back of victory in the Falmouth Stakes (Gr1) and is seeking a fourth consecutive success after three straight wins in Britain.
