Saint-Cloud’s Premier Racing Sunday

Saint-Cloud’s Premier Racing Sunday
The Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud (Gr.1), staged on Sunday at Saint-Cloud Racecourse, has attracted a field of exceptional quality headed by Calandagan, the world's highest-rated horse of 2025.
Successful in the race last year, the Francis-Henri Graffard-trained star will attempt to defend his crown and become only the sixth horse in history to win back-to-back editions of the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud, following in the footsteps of Nino, Tanerko, Rheingold, Helissio and Ange Gabriel.
Following victories in the Dubai Sheema Classic (Gr.1) and a fourth-place finish in the Coronation Cup (Gr.1) at Epsom, Calandagan returns to a racecourse and ground conditions that are ideally suited to his strengths.
Strong French challenge
Five French-trained runners will line up for Sunday's feature. Aventure, runner-up in the 2025 renewal, arrives in peak form after her victory in the Prix Corrida (Gr.2) and will be looking to reverse last year's result with Calandagan.
Jean-Claude Rouget's Leffard returns to 2,400 metres after finishing runner-up this season in both the Prix d'Harcourt (Gr.2) and the Prix Aga Khan IV (Prix d'Ispahan) (Gr.1). Winner of the Cygames Grand Prix de Paris (Gr.1) in 2025, he also ranks among the leading contenders.
High-class European opposition
The international challenge is completed by three overseas-trained runners: Ireland's Lambourn, winner of both the 2025 Epsom Derby and Irish Derby, alongside the British-trained Pride Of Arras and Eydon.
The Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud: one of the season's flagship fixtures
The highlight of the year at Saint-Cloud Racecourse, the meeting also forms the third leg of the ARC RACES series, an eight-race qualifying circuit leading to the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Eligible winners earn a coveted Wild Card guaranteeing their place in Europe's most prestigious race.
Beyond the sporting spectacle, the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud meeting is the racecourse's flagship annual event. This year also marks the 28th edition of the traditional Grand Painting Competition. Open to everyone, it brings together both professional and amateur artists, who are invited to create an original work inspired by the atmosphere of the races. Racegoers will also have the opportunity to contribute to a giant collaborative mural throughout the day.
Five World Pool by PMU races
The Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud meeting will once again be part of the World Pool by PMU initiative, a partnership between PMU and the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC). Five races on Sunday's card will carry the World Pool label, allowing the HKJC to merge its Win and Place betting pools with those operated by PMU.
Bets placed in Hong Kong on these two wagering products will therefore be commingled with PMU's pools, significantly increasing the overall betting liquidity.
