The Prix Maurice de Gheest headlines a stellar day of racing at Deauville 

Following Saturday’s excellent card, Deauville hosts another top-class meeting on Sunday, featuring eight races. The highlight of the programme is the Arc Prix Maurice de Gheest – FEE – In Memory of Louis Romanet (Gr.1), run over Deauville’s straight 1,300 metres. The race brings together the best sprinters and milers aged three and over, including colts, fillies, horses, mares and geldings.

This year’s renewal pays tribute to Louis Romanet, a leading figure in both French and international racing, who passed away in March 2026. A field of twelve will go to post, with France holding strong claims through Stolen Kiss, whose recent performances have established her among Europe’s leading sprinters. Most recently, she finished an outstanding fourth in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes (Gr.1) at Royal Ascot, where the first four home were separated by the narrowest of margins.

Another feature on the card is the Prix Daphnis – Jockey Club Argentino (Gr.3), contested over 1,600 metres. The race has attracted a field of twelve runners trained in France, Italy and Great Britain.

The meeting also includes the Hipodromo Palermo 150 Aniversario (L.), run over Deauville’s straight 1,000 metres, as well as the Prix Moonlight Cloud – Hipodromo de San Isidro (L.).
