Gala meeting for the reopening of Longchamp
After Saint-Cloud, attention turns to Longchamp, which reopens its gates for a new season… and the pleasure of returning remains as strong as ever. The atmosphere promises to be electric for this gala fixture, where the action gets underway immediately with two maiden races — the perfect opportunity to spot future stars among the 3-year-old colts and fillies.
The tempo will rise with the fourth race, the Prix La Force (Gr.3, 1,800m), where six colts will line up with the Classics in their sights, including the Poule d’Essai des Poulains and the Prix du Jockey Club (Grs.1). A key test to assess their true potential.
Around thirty minutes later, the fillies take centre stage in the Al Shira’aa Racing Prix Vanteaux (Gr.3, 1,800m). Ten runners are set to go to post, all aiming to shine with a view to the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches and the Prix de Diane (Grs.1). This renewal looks particularly compelling, notably with the presence of Zaraxia, unbeaten in two starts and making her seasonal return, and Zlata, absent since her sole victory in September. Two promising profiles, expected to make up for their lack of experience with sheer quality.
Finally, the meeting will reach its climax with the Prix d’Harcourt (Gr.2, 2,000m), a true stepping stone towards the Prix Ganay (Gr.1) at the end of the month. The field is strong, featuring notably two Group 1 winners in 2025: Bay City Roller and Leffard. A fitting finale to the occasion.
