Friday, October 4th, 2024, Saint-Cloud Racecourse (Hauts-de-Seine). - Heavily backed at 1/10 after winning his two previous races, Maranoa Charlie (Wootton Bassett) dominated the €80,000 Prix Thomas Bryon (Gr3), a race for 2-year-olds run over 1,600 metres. Quickly taking the lead, he drew away from his four rivals, three of whom had been supplemented after only two original entries remained.
Consigned by Haras d'Étreham and purchased by Laurent Benoît (Broadhurst), the colt cost €220,000 at the Arqana sales as a yearling. He is the second foal out of Koubalibre (Galileo), who won just one race but is a sister to Tiggy Wiggy (Kodiac), winner of the Cheveley Park Stakes (Gr1). A colt by Baeed was born in 2024. The 3-year-old by Kodiac is still a maiden but has been placed several times across the Channel.
