Saint-Cloud, France – October 27, 2024 – The French favourite for the €250,000 Critérium International (Gr1), Maranoa Charlie (Wootton Bassett), set off in front and led by a wide margin before shortening stride as the field entered the straight. Twain (Wootton Bassett), who had tracked the leader throughout, was first to challenge and held off his stablemate Mount Kilimanjaro (Siyouni) to win by more than a length. Apples And Bananas (Wootton Bassett), making his fifth career start and seeking a fourth consecutive victory, finished third. He had already accumulated more than £500,000 in earnings.

Bred by Coolmore Stud, Twain had won on his debut just eight days before this first top-level victory. His dam, Wading (Montjeu), a Group 2 winner and granddaughter of the great Urban Sea (Miswaki), has also produced the talented Just Wonderful (Dansili). She has been bred to Frankel the last two years.
