Saint-Cloud, France – October 27, 2024 – The Irish favourite, Tennessee Stud (Wootton Bassett), emerged victorious in Sunday’s €250,000 Critérium de Saint-Cloud (Gr1) at Saint-Cloud, contested by a field of three on heavy ground.
Pacesetter Green Storm (Circus Maximus) attempted to make all the running, but Tennessee Stud, who took some time to find his best stride in the run-in, rallied strongly in the final two furlongs to win by 1 ½ lengths.
The winner was starting for the fourth time, having most recently finished second to Hotazhell, winner of Saturday’s Doncaster Futurity Trophy (Gr1). Bred by Anne-Marie O’Brien, the mother of trainer Joseph O’Brien, Tennessee Stud is out of the maiden In My Dreams (Zoffany), a sister to champion Rock of Gibraltar (Danehill). In My Dreams has also produced Listed winner Jumellea (Zoffany) and an unraced 5-year-old gelding who was sold for 11,000 guineas at last year’s Tattersalls horses-in-training sale.
A colt by Footstepsinthesand was born in 2023. In My Dreams was covered again by Wootton Bassett in 2023.
