Huge favourite in the Qatar Arabian World Cup – the equivalent of the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe for pure bred Arabs – Al Ghadeer triumphed for the second consecutive year. In the qatari colours of Al Shaqab Racing (the racing stables of Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani), the 5 year old male wins one race after another in this tenth consecutive victory, the sixth at Group 1 level (the highest level in horse racing). It comes as the third win in this race for his trainer, François Rohaut, installed in Pau (the Atlantic Pyrenees), who won first time in 2008, with Lahib.
Al Ghadeer led by two lengths ahead of RB Kingmaker, trained by Elisabeth Bernard, installed in La Teste-de-Buch (33). Ch’ezza came third, she who equally depends on the training of François Rohaut.

« Al Ghadeer is the horse of a lifetime , of a career. I have waited 34 years for this. He has no physical flaws, he is healthy. He returns to Doha this winter. He commands all the terrains , but all the distances too : the 1 600 metres at Goodwood , the 2000 metres at Longchamp Paris , the 2 400 metres. »
Elisabeth Bernard – Trainer of RB Kingmaker (2nd) – the Centre of training in La Teste-de-Buch (33)
« For me, it is like a victory too. The horse who won is out of this world. My horse took an extraordinarily straight line. Therefore coming second to such a champion, it is like a victory to me. He was already very far behind entering the straight, but this is how he needs to be ridden. In the other races, there was not enough speed and he would have won if there had not been Al Ghadeer. He returns to his owner Helal Alalawi in the United Arab Emirates and I hope that next year, he will come back to training with me. »
