Every jumps' Gr1 in France is run at Auteuil. Contrary to the tradition of National Hunt in Britain and Ireland, the jumpers in France are divided according to their age at 3 and 4, and meet their elders from 5 years old. The season runs from January to December. Novices and novices' races do not exist in France. Also contrary to Britain and Ireland, there are no distance divisions. At the top of every generation, over hurdles and in steeple-chasing, the distance usually is extended one race after another to reach a maximum trip for the Gr1 championships.

Here are the main fixtures of jumps racing for the first semester of 2019 in France (there isn't any proper championship for 3yos in the Spring) :

    Hurdles – 4yo

    • March 16, Prix d’Indy Hurdle (Gr3) over 2m2f ;
    • April 6, Prix de Pépinvast Hurdle (Gr3) over 2m2f ;
    • April 27 avril, Prix Amadou Hurdle (Gr2) over 2m3 1/2f ;
