42 horses, including three Japanese trained, have been entered for the 2025 edition of the Gr1 Aga Khan Studs Prix Jacques Le Marois, which takes place on 17 August 2025 at the Deauville racecourse during the prestigious Deauville Barrière Meeting.
As sponsors of the race, the Aga Khan Studs could have three runners, including the recent classic winner Zarigana, the three-year-old filly who last month lifted the Gr1 Emirates Poule d’Essai des Pouliches at the ParisLongchamp racecourse. She is trained by Francis-Henri Graffard, who also looks after the four-year-old colt Zabiari, who is unbeaten in two starts this season. Ridari, who finished fifth in the Gr1 Emirates Poule d’Essai des Poulains, also carries the famous silks of the Aga Khan Studs.
Some of Europe’s best three-year-olds have received an entry : Gr1 2,000 Guineas winner Ruling Court is one of five Godolphin entries, while Juddmonte has also made five entries, including Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Field of Gold. The Aidan O’Brien trained classic winners Henri Matisse, who lifted the Emirates Poule d’Essai des Poulains and Camille Pissarro, the Qatar Prix du Jockey Club victor, also feature on the list. Introduction of the 3 Japanese entries
It is the first time that three potential runners from Japan could come to Deauville this summer :
- Jantar Mantar : One of the best Japanese milers.
The four-year-old colt has already won three Gr 1 races (the highest level in the sport of horse racing). Last Sunday, ridden by Yuga Kawada, he won the Yasuda Kinen on his 2025 seasonal reappearance. He is trained by Tomokazu Takano who so far has never had a runner in France before.

- Ascoli Piceno : the globetrotter
This four-year-old filly is well travelled as she lifted a Gr2 in Saudi Arabia this year. In Japan, she won the Victoria Mile and is considered one of the best milers in the country. On her last two starts she was ridden by French born and Japanese based jockey Christophe Patrice Lemaire.

His entry in the Aga Khan Studs Prix Jacques Le Marois was a surprise ! At first glance an outsider, as he is not in the habit of competing at Gr1 level, his entry was announced by the Japanese press.
