Qatar Prix du Jockey Club 2025 : Pierre-Yves Bureau Manager de l’écurie Wertheimer & Frère
Quotes from the connections of the expected runners in the Qatar Prix du Jockey Club 2025
Pierre-Yves Bureau
Manager of Écurie Wertheimer & Frère
His runners: Sinileo (supplemented) and Nitoi
A truly classic stable, Wertheimer & Frère is one of the great historic owner-breeders in European flat racing. Belonging to the owners of the Chanel house, Alain and Gérard Wertheimer, this racing entity has a long and rich history in which the passion for racing has been passed down from generation to generation for over a century.
Three winners of the Prix du Jockey Club (Gr.1) feature on the stable's record: Roi Lear (1973), Val de l'Orne (1975), and Intello (2013). The latter now stands at stud on the outskirts of Deauville, at Haras de Beaumont, and is one of the good French stallions, having himself sired to date three Group 1 winners, including two under the Wertheimer & Frère colours (Junko and Adhamo).
The ambition is therefore to bring forward new stallions, with the two candidates under the Wertheimer & Frère silks in the 2025 edition of the Qatar Prix du Jockey Club (Group 1) being among the stable’s major hopes.
At present, Écurie Wertheimer & Frère is at the top of the owners' rankings in France, achieving one of the best starts to a season in its recent history. It is therefore a good time to "try" things, such as with Sinileo, who was supplemented for the Jockey Club despite his lack of experience, after a remarkable win in a maiden. Nitoi, on the other hand, has considerably more experience and has run well in the classic prep races. Both colts are trained by André Fabre, who led Intello to victory in 2013 for these silks.
HIS QUOTES
« Sinileo won very easily, impressing Maxime Guyon. He will find himself in a large field, we remain a bit in the unknown and he may lack experience. On his debut, he showed a very nice acceleration and has come out of the race well since. The race seems open, we are taking our chance! As far as I can remember, supplementing one of our representatives in the Jockey Club is not frequent. Maxime Guyon will ride him. »
« Nitoi has been following the programme set for quite some time. He is a tough colt who has little to reproach himself for. In his second place in the Prix Noailles (Gr3), he was beaten by Uther while making his seasonal reappearance. Nitoi fully deserves his place at the start. »
