    Psyche 23 Excellent Truth

Sunday, 30th July 2023, Deauville Racecourse (Calvados). – At the end of the €80,000 Prix de Psyché Sky Sports Racing (Gr3), a ten-furlong race for 3-year-old fillies, it's once again an "eternal runner-up," Excellent Truth (Cotai Glory), who, following Mqse de Sevigné, returned to the winner's circle. The representative of Montgomery Motto was indeed coming off a second-place finish in the Prix Mélisande (L) over the same distance, behind Left Sea (Frankel), whom she met again here, and behind the English filly Araminta in the Darley Prix Chloé (Gr3), over 9 furlongs. She had won twice consecutively before that over the mile. This time, the Mauricio Delcher-Sanchez trainee had the final say after travelling in the middle of the field and then moving forward to beat the front-runner and favourite Left Sea, who never gave up and eventually conceded the victory by a neck. Always behind Left Sea, Empress Wu (Sea the Moon) stayed on in third despite strong challenges from Tygress (Kingman) and Wild Pansy (Siyouni).

Excellent Truth was born in Ireland and was bred by Sandra Russell. She was sold as a yearling for €52,000 to Montgomery Motto at the Goffs sales in Ireland. Her younger brother by Dandy Man is entered in the Premier Yearling Sale at the end of August at Goffs. Their dam, the maiden Moment of Truth (Teofilo), also produced Memo de L’Alguer (Mehmas), who finished third in the Italian One Thousand Guineas. She is also a sister to Zafisio (Efisio), the Critérium International (Gr1) winner.
