Sunday, June 19, 2022, Chantilly Racecourse (Oise). – An impressive Simca Mille (Tamayuz) took the Prix du Lys Longines (Gr3) by storm and is now amongst the most respected contenders for the July 14th, Bastille day Grand Prix de Paris (Gr1). Eighth for his debut, in a hot maiden won by eventual Prix Paul de Moussac Longines (Gr3) victor Erevann (Dubawi), while another starter that day, Al Hakeem (Siyouni), finished fourth in the Prix du Jockey Club. Simca Mille kept on climbing the ladder. After winning a handicap, he displayed all his stamina at Angers and proved it again here in the Prix du Lys Longines.

Théo Bachelot took the Jurgen Winter’s Haras de La Perelle homebred to the lead and posted the best fractions in the race (11''33 in the 2nd last furlong, 11''98 in the last). The total time of 2'28''70 is the fastest since 2014 and Simca Mille won handily by three and a half lengths!

Son of the champion miler Tamayuz (Nayef), Simca Mille is the first foal out of Swertia (Pivotal), twice a winner over 1m4f. Sadia, a 2-year-old Kodiac filly, also in Stéphane Wattel's yard, followed at stud, and then came a yearling filly by Invincible Spirit.

Simca Mille was not sold at €68,000 when consigned by his breeder at the Arqana breeding sales. More recently, last December at the Tattersalls breeding sales, Flight to Fancy (Galileo), a winning sister to Swertia in foal to Cracksman, was sold for £10,000 to Westgate Stud.

Swertia comes from an Aga Khan family. Haras de la -Perelle bought her dam Sanjida (Polish Precedent), a Group-placed sister to the champion mare Sarafina (Saint-Alary/Diane double, and a Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud victor, too), before selling her at the Arqana 2013 breeding sales for €320,000 to Eliza Park International.
