Youth in the Spotlight on Sunday at Auteuil
On Sunday, the Auteuil racecourse will shine a light on young champions with several races reserved for four-year-old horses. The highlight of the meeting will be the Prix d’Indy (Group 3), a competition designed for the best hurdlers of this generation.
Winner of the Prix Cambacérès (Group 1) – the Three-Year-Old Hurdle Championship – at the end of 2024, Sain d’Esprit (Cokoriko) currently dominates his class. He will logically start as the favorite, although his Prix Cambacérès victory means he must carry an additional weight of three to six kilos against his rivals.
His main challenge will come from Mamisuz de Houelle (Beaumec de Houelle), the best filly of her generation and winner of the Haras d’Étreham Prix Magalen Bryant (Group 2). This Prix d’Indy promises an exciting duel between Sain d’Esprit, the top colt, and Mamisuz de Houelle, the leading filly.
In the Prix Hubert d’Aillières (Listed), the crowd will see Nyiri (Scorpion), the hero of the Cagnes-sur-Mer winter meeting and winner of the Grand Prix de la Ville de Nice (Group 3). He will face Ine Anjou (Balko), winner of the Prix de Pépinvast (Group 3) 2022, as well as strong steeplechasers like Jost (Buck’s Boum), Imbatable du Seuil (Kamsin), and El Clavel (Spanish Moon), a promising jumper set for his first true test against seasoned competitors.
Opening the day’s program, the Prix Didier Mescam, paying tribute to a great jockey, will feature talented horses taking on the bigger steeplechase obstacles for the first time. Among them are Olympic Story (Masked Marvel), runner-up in the Haras d’Étreham Prix Magalen Bryant, and Bahyadame (Goliath du Berlais). In contrast, Botervia du Kalon (Bathyrhon) already has experience in this discipline and is expected to compete at a high level over fences.
Finally, the second race of the card, the Prix Ventriloque, reserved for four-year-olds, promises to be of exceptional quality. The Noel George & Amanda Zetterholm duo will send out Lascar du Mathan (Doctor Dino) and Neverchangedoctor (Doctor Dino) to battle against Le Nez Creux (No Risk at All), an impressive three-year-old winner at Auteuil on debut, as well as Pau revelations Lovely Dino (Doctor Dino) and Lucky d’Olva (Spanish Moon).
A Sunday full of thrilling action and rising stars!
