The Prix Vicomtesse Vigier (Gr2), a 3000-meter race that closed the series of four Group events on Sunday's program at ParisLongchamp, wasn't the most fluent race. The favourite Holdthasigreen (Hold that Tiger) and his challenger Boulevard (Galileo) took the lead and in the final straight, while the second was only staying on, Holdthasigreen was unable to make a difference, while Way To Paris (Champs Elysées) was challenging them. Finally, it was Called to the Bar (Henrythenavigator), coming from the back of the field, who had the last word, and very dramatically since the representative of Fair Salinia and his trainer Pia Brandt left the second Way To Paris at three lengths while returning Call the Wind (Frankel) finished well in third place ahead of Malkoboy (Rajsaman) and Holdthasigreen.
The latter had beaten Called to the Bar twice this season, but the way the race went probably served him better on the day. That said, Called to the Bar carries the score of their match at 3-2 in his favour.
Called to the Bar is out of Perfect Hedge (Unfuwain), winner of the Prix Pénélope (Gr3). His third dam is Alexandrie, dam of the famed sire Poliglote, and also the third dam of Astonished (Invincible Spirit), winner of one of the maiden races on the day at ParisLongchamp.
