Sunday, April 11, 2021, ParisLongchamp Racecourse (Paris). - Fourth at Saint-Cloud for her comeback only eight days before this €80,000 Prix Vanteaux (Gr3), Rumi (Frankel) completely redeemed herself here by pushing back the favourite Petricor (Frankel), leading a 1-2 for the Juddmonte miler (who also sired the winner of a later Class 2 race and last year's Daniel Wildenstein 5th, Hurricane Cloud). She'd won her only race at 2 in October on the same course and distance, in a time only 0''7 longer than today on a slower course than this.
Ridden next to Standby for Chaos (Morpheus), a pacemaker for Tiger Tanaka (Clodovil), she enjoyed a fine trip whereas the favourite had to make up lots of ground around the field after a slow start, for her comeback after 250 days off.
The winner was sold for €700,000 at the Deauville yearling sales. She's a sister to Solage (Galileo), a Listed-winner in 2019 at 3 in ireland who made a million euros at the sales. Their Galileo brother is in the Arqana breeze-up sales in May. A Roaring Lion colt was born last year 2020.
They all were foaled by Secrète (Cape Cross), who ran once and was unplaced, but is a sister to Plumania and Balladeuse, dams of Plumatic, Starmaniac, Left Hand, etc.
Rumi is in the Emirates Poule d'Essai des Pouliches, the Saxon Warrior Coolmore Prix Saint-Alary (Gr1) and the Prix de Diane Longines (Gr1).
