Royaumont: Thunder Drum back on her feet

June 6,  2021, Chantilly racecourse (Oise). - Thunder Drum (Dubawi) came by before the last bend on this 1m4f Prix de Royaumont (Gr3) and she fought her way all along to the wire to beat Omnia Munda Mundis (Australia), who briefly led one out, finally holding Ricla (Adlerflug) at one length, with Omnia Munda Mundis beaten a short head for the second place.

Trained by Jérôme Reynier for Lady Bamford, Thunder Drum won her maiden last Winter at Cagnes-sur-Mer. Third afterwards at saint-Cloud in the Prix Rose de Mai (L), she was disappointing at Toulouse for a new attempt at the Listed level. She bounced back superbly here. her dam is Great Heavens (Galileo), an Irish Oaks winner whose full brother Nathaniel won the Eclipse Stakes (Gr1) and the King George (Gr1) at Ascot. The yearling brother to Thunder Drum by Lope de Vega was sold for £200,000 £ at Tattersalls last Autumn.
