June 5, 2022, Chantilly Racecourse (Oise). – Offered at almost 7/1 on the racecourse despite his commanding Prix de Guiche (Gr3) win on this course's 9-furlong trip, Vadeni (Chruchill) very easily won the 182nd Qatar Prix du Jockey Club (Gr1), beating British raider El Bodegon (Kodiac) by 5 lengths while the favourite and front-runner Modern Games (Dubawi) had to settle for 3rd place at a neck. Breeder-owner H H Aga Khan won the race for the 8th time, winning trainer Jean-Claude Rouget a 5th time, and Christophe Soumillon was signing a 4th win in the French Derby.

After travelling in 5th behind Modern Games, who took the lead despite his 13 draw, Imperial Fighter, Yoozuna and El Bodegon, at his inside along the rail, Vadeni made his move early in the straight and quickly made a difference to remain unchallenged.

Vadeni won first time out at 2 at La Teste, in July over 7 furlongs. He duly confirmed over a mile in the Critérium du Fonds Européen de l’Élevage (L) before being beaten for the first time when 3rd behind... El Bodegon in the Prix de Condé (Gr3), over 9 furlongs in September, at Longchamp. Fifth for his comeback in the Prix de Fontainebleau (Gr3) over the mile, the Aga Khan homebred bay redeemed himself brilliantly in the Prix de Guiche, won by 2,5 lengths.

He's probably the best foal out of Vaderana (Monsun), who has already given two black-type performers in Vadsena (Makfi) and Vadiyann (Footstepsinthesand). Her dam is Vadawina (Unfuwain), a Prix Saint-Alary (Gr1) winner by 4 lengths whose short racing career was completed by a fine one at stud, where she gave 5 good winners, including the Prix du Conseil de Paris (Gr2) winner Vadamar (Dalakhani), Vedouma (Dalakhani) and The Pentagon (Galileo).

This fine bloodline leads to Vazira (Sea the Stars), another Prix Saint-Alary (Gr1) graduate, and the French 1,000 Guineas second Veda (Dansili).

The winner's sister Vardana (Awtaad) was sold for €80,000 to Horizon Bloodstock Limited at the 2021 Arqana Breeding sale.
