Thursday, April 8th, 2021, Deauville Racecourse (Calvados). - The Prix Imprudence (Gr3), a French and British 1,000 Guineas prep race, was run more conventionally -by French standards, anyway- than the colts' Prix Djebel an hour earlier. Yet, another runner coming from the rear, Reina Madre (Kingman), had the last word: unlucky aboard Prince Lancelot in the Djebel, her rider Christophe Soumillon this time found the gap in due course and the filly finally outstayed the leading Godolphin player Sky Angel (Dark Angel), who maybe needed a breather at the crucial moment. Always at the top of the race along with Sky Angel, Louliana (Acclamation) stayed on in third, beating the favourite See the Rose (Kendargent), who hadn't run this season, and Kennella (Kendargent), who finished very promisingly.

Reina Madre was bred in Ireland and sold as a weanling for € 360,000 at Goffs in Ireland. His dam Splashdown (Falbrav) was sold for £ 145,000 after two years without a foal and a Dubawi colt who, last year at 3, was sold £ 33,000 after three races without a win. A LIsted winner herself, Splashdown had first given a foal by Oasis Dream who scored at Gr3 level.

Trained at Chantilly by Mauricio Delcher-Sanchez for Yeguada Centurion, Reina Madre won her debut at 2 at Madrid, and then finished 2nd in the Grand Critérium de Bordeaux - Prix du Hong Kong Jockey Club (L) over the mile. She ran again at Madrid (4th) at 2 and was making her seasonal bow here.

She's entered in the Emirates Poule d’Essai des Pouliches (French 1,000 Guineas, Gr1).
