ParisLongchamp reopens in style this Sunday!
After a five-month winter break, the iconic ParisLongchamp racecourse is throwing open its gates again this Sunday for what promises to be an electrifying meeting. And what a comeback it is! No fewer than three Group races are on the card, headlined by the Group 2 Prix d’Harcourt – a key stepping stone on the road to the Group 1 Prix Ganay on April 27. Five contenders will battle it out over the 2,000-metre course, including Map of Stars, who already made headlines in March with a commanding win in the Group 3 Prix Exbury.
Spotlight on the 3-year-olds
The young guns will also take centre stage with two classic trials reserved for 3-year-olds. The Prix La Force (Group 3), run over 1,800 metres, could well reveal future stars of the Qatar Prix du Jockey Club or the Poule d’Essai des Poulains (both Group 1). Three unbeaten colts will put their records on the line: Azimpour, Nizam and New Ground. Expect fireworks!
Among the fillies, it’s the Prix Vanteaux (Group 3), sponsored by Al Shira’aa Racing, that will take the spotlight. All eyes will be on Mandanaba, who turned heads last season on debut under the prestigious colours of Princess Zahra Aga Khan.
Big promises from the very first races
The day kicks off with a bang thanks to two hotly anticipated maiden races for 3-year-olds: the Prix Juigné and the Prix de Chaillot. These contests have a reputation for unearthing future stars – think Feed the Flame (Grand Prix de Paris winner and now a sire) and Burgarita (winner of the always sought-after Prix de la Seine).
Ready to feel the thrill? ParisLongchamp is back – and so is the show
