Sunday May 29, 2022, ParisLongchamp Racecourse (Paris). – After a slow start in this Prix du Palais-Royal (Gr3), Egot (Invincible Spirit) travelled in last of a small but fast field led by Duhail (Lope de Vega), second a year earlier in this race to Marianafoot (Foostepsinthesand), also competing for a repeat win. However, the Godolphin homebred was clearly the best in the last furlong and hit the second post with a length and a half on Marianafoot, who kept a nose on the 3-year-old Accakaba (Acclamation). Duhail finished fourth after having bravely held on for a while, unlike Malavath (Mehmas), never in contention again, four weeks after her One Thousand Guineas failure at Newmarket.

It was the tenth race of the 4-year-old Egot, who had just run well by finishing a close fifth after looking outpaced over the Prix Servanne (L) 6-furlongs at Chantilly, where he was carrying 2lbs. He had just won his third Listed race for his seasonal return over 1,100 metres at Fontainebleau.

Egot is the second foal out of the Australian mare Entertains (Street Cry), winner of three races in her native country before being imported by Godolphin, her breeder, to Europe. She gave birth to Laser Show (New Approach), who won two races at 3, before Egot. The second dam Serenade Rose (Stravinsky), a triple Gr1 winner and dual classic winner in Australia, also gave Minnesinger (Lohnro), a Gr2 second over 9 furlongs in Melbourne.
