Jean-Claude Rouget is last year’s winning trainer and his protégé Olmedo (Declaration of War) is expected to start favourite for the #Qipco Prix du #JockeyClub (Gr1). Expected to return odds of around 3-1 or 4-1, the colt’s win in the Emirates Poule d’Essai des Poulains (Gr1) was particularly pleasing on the eye. Study of Man (Deep Impact), the winner of the Prix Greffulhe (Gr2), is expected to be his main market rival at forecast odds of 5-1. Supplemented for the race, which is indicative of the confident mindset of his connections, the British-trained Key Victory is expected to occupy the third line of betting at odds oscillating from 6-1 to 7-1. It’s not easy separating a group comprising Dice Roll (Showcasing), Hey Gaman (New Approach) and Rostropovich (Frankel) but this trio can expect to start at around the 10-1 mark. Dice Roll has a bad draw to overcome and was only just beaten for second by Hey Gaman in the Emirates Poule d’Essai des Poulains, whereas Rostropovich is the number one hope of Aidan O’Brien.
This Sunday morning at 10:30, less than six hours of the event, the favorites at the French Tote PMU (see image opposite) were Olmedo and Study of Man at 5,80 followed by Key Victory (8.70) and Naturally High (9.20).
