Focus on the maiden winners of the past week on the France Galop racecourses, an opportunity to discover some of tomorrow's champions ...

BEAU IDEAL (C2), GB by Exceed and Excel es Lay Time (Galileo)
Prix de Tancarville-Ville de Sauternes (Unraced 2yo c&g, 1,200m turf),  July 29, Deauville

    Owner : Godolphin SNC
    Trainer : André Fabre
    Breeder : W. & R. Barnett Ltd
    Rider : Mickaël Barzalona

Beau Ideal (Exceed and Excel) led all the way by the stands' rail a year after previuous winner Bay of Biscaine in the Prix de Tancarville. Dameron (Dabirsim) finished well after being held up behind the eventual winner and ended up a length short.
Beau Ideal was bought 150,000 Guineas at Tattersalls in Newmarket by John Ferguson, ex-manager of Godolphin. It is the second foal out of Lay Time, a Listed winner over the mile and a Gr3-winner over 2,000 metres in England. Lay Time's first filly by Street Cry did not run.

Beau Ideal's 3rd dam is none other than the champion mare Time Charter (Saritamer), winner of the Champion Stakes, the Coronation Cup, the King George and the Oaks ... She also did well at stud as she gave two Group winners.

POLYDREAM (F2), (IRE) by Oasis Dream ex Polygreen (Green Tune)
Prix de Lisieux (Unraced 2yo fillies, 1,200m Turf), July 30, Deauville

    Owner : Wertheimer&Frère
    Trainer : Freddy Head
    Breeder : Wertheimer&Frère
    Rider : Maxime Guyon

Same script that in the males' version above as the pacesetter Polydream prevailed easily two lentghs ahead of 2nd-placed Fou Rire (Ifraaj).

This is a timely update for Lot #234 at Arqana yearling sales, a sister to Polydream by Invincible Spirit consigned by the Écurie des Monceaux, which bought their dam Polygreen, in foal to that yearling, for €200,000 at Arqana Breeding sale in 2015.
Twice a winner over 7 furlongs, Polygreen had previously been deemed worthy to run in the French 1,000 Guineas (Gr1) for the Wertheimers and finished seventh. Her best daughter, Evaporation (Red Ransom), has avenged her since she won the Prix Amandine in which the mare had finished second.
