4-year-old gelding Impulsif (New Approach) has dominated the Prix Messidor (Gr3) mile, Sunday at Deauville, easily keeping his elder Trais Fluors (Dansili), at half a length. Winner of the QIPCO Prix du Jockey Club (Gr1) in 2018, Study of Man (Deep Impact) had to settle for the third place almost two lengths behind the second. The Niarchos family found homebred was back over a distance he hadn't run on since his victorious debut. This time, however, he tried in vain to challenge the eventual winner, who had led the pace, and probably lost the second place for doing so. Impulsif is improving a lot but he's been gelded last December and he's barred from the French top miles.
Impulsif's dam Violante (Kingmambo) is a sister to the Prix du Jockey Club (Gr1) winner Anabaa Blue (Anabaa), and to Al Ishq (Nureyev), dam of Prix Jacques le Marois (Gr1) winner Tamayuz (Nayef). Their dam, Allez Les Trois (Riverman), is a sister to Urban Sea (Miswaki), one of the best broodmares of the 21st century, and of the famed sire King's Best.
