Sunday, August 30, 2020, Deauville. - In the lead early on the heavy ground of Deauville, the English raider Telecaster (New Approach) was never really challenged in the homestretch of the Lucien Barrière Grand Prix de Deauville (Gr2), which he won by six lengths and a half. This success follows that of the Castle Down Racing colt two months ago over 1m2f in La Coupe (Gr3) at ParisLongchamp.

For having tried to challenge the winner into the last straight after having followed him along the rail, the defending champion Ziyad (Rock of Gibraltar) lost the second place in the end to the benefit of Soft Light (Authorized), who had travelled in the rear.

Trained in England by Hughie Morrison, bought back £ 180,000 at the Newmarket sales, Telecaster won the Dante Stakes (Gr2) at 3, a prep race for the Epsom Derby (Gr1) contested over 10.5f at York, beating the former 2-year-old champion Too Darn Hot. However, he failed completely in the classic and then against older horses in the Eclipse Stakes (Gr1). Third at a good length for his comeback, he then crushed La Coupe (Gr3) at ParisLongchamp in June, but then had failed again in the York Stakes (Gr3) before bouncing back here in Normandy.
