La Haye Jousselin and the Grand Prix d’Automne already on the horizon

Saturday’s meeting at Auteuil is one not to miss. It is the finest September card, featuring the prep for the Prix La Haye Jousselin (Gr.1), the Prix Richard et Robert Hennessy (Gr.3), and the prep for the Grand Prix d’Automne–Prix Serge Landon (Gr.1), the Prix de Compiègne (Gr.3). In one afternoon, you’ll see some of the best French steeple-chasers and hurdlers.
In the Prix Richard et Robert Hennessy, we will see again the champion Sel Jem (Masked Marvel), winner of the 2022 Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris (Gr.1), who comes here after finishing sixth in this year’s edition. He will meet a strong field, including Bon Garçon (Masterstroke), winner of the Prix des Drags (Gr.2), Kaadam (Saint des Saints), the best 4yo chaser of 2024, Kif Kif Bourricot (Masked Marvel), winner of the Prix Troytown (Gr.3), and the consistent Toscana du Berlais (Shantou).
In the Prix de Compiègne, another Papot star, like Sel Jem, makes his return: Losange Bleu (Martaline). He will not meet El Clavel (Spanish Moon), who narrowly beat him in the Grande Course de Haies d’Auteuil (Gr.1) and is set to reappear in the Prix Carmarthen (Gr.3) in three weeks. Even carrying 72kg, Losange Bleu will be very tough to beat. Among his rivals are the versatile Gallipoli (Gleneagles), Imbatable du Seuil (Kamsin), third in the Grande Course de Haies d’Auteuil, Isis d’Inor (The Grey Gatsby), a dual Gr.3 winner who has already made a seasonal comeback on the Flat, Kentucky Wood (Balko), and the Swedish raider Ajas (No Risk at All), who brings an international touch.
The third Group race on Saturday’s card, the Prix de Maisons-Laffitte (Gr.3), is a stepping stone to the Prix Renaud du Vivier (Gr.1). Among those expected are Sain d’Esprit (Cokoriko), winner of the Prix Cambacérès (Gr.1), Apollon du Luy (Kapgarde), who excelled over fences in the spring, Miss Wood (Chœur du Nord), dominant among the fillies, Djin’s (It’s Gino), winner of the Prix Questarabad (Gr.3), and Rooster Crowing (Chanducoq), who enjoyed a brilliant summer campaign!
