MR DREAMER (c2), FRA by Mr. Owen ex Romantic Dreams (Zafeen)

Prix Chateau Bouscaut (Maiden 2-year old colts and geldings, 1,400m/7f), June 21, Saint-Cloud

Owners: Eduard Malnik, Igor Endaltsev

Trainer: Igor Endaltsev

Breeder: Patrick Chedeville

Rider: Bauyrzhan Murzabayev

Optimal (Dark Angel) and Mr. Dreamer (Mr. Owen) finished 5th and 8th respectively for their common debut. This time, they both went ahead as Mr Dreamer led home the favourite and supplemented Optimal, winning by 2.5 lengths. The only beginner in the race, Rising Blast (Ribchester), who travelled at the rear, sprinted well to take third place a neck behind.

These are the first juveniles sired by Mr. Owen (Invincible Spirit). Third in the French Guineas and still busy racing at 6, Mr. Owen celebrated his first winner with Mr Dreamer. Based at the Haras du Petit Tellier, the stallion is out of Mrs Lindsay (Theatrical), winner of the Prix Vermeille (Gr1) and the EP Taylor Stakes (Gr1).

Mr Dreamer is the third foal out of the maiden Romantic Dreams (Zafeen), her first winner. Romantic Dreams is a sister to Ma Préférence (American Post), winner of the Prix Fille de l'Air (Gr3), Noble Request (Highest Honor) and Mes Bleus Yeux (Exit to Nowhere). This is the family of the Prix de Diane (Gr1) winner Resless Kara (Akarad) and Restiadargent (Kendargent), winner of the Critérium de Maisons-Laffitte (Gr2).

In 2018, Romantic Dreams' first foal, Storm Grine (Elvstroem), fetched €7,000, Benjamin Chauvel’s bid at the Arqana V2 yearling sale in August 2018. Mr Dreamer was in the 2021 November yearling sale and SARL Imperial Bloodstock acquired it for €2,500.

BLUE ROSE CEN (f2), IRE by Churchill ex Queen Blossom (Jeremy)

Prix de La Rablais (Maiden 2-year-old fillies, 1,400m/7f), June 21, Saint-Cloud

Owner: Yeguada Centurion SLU

Trainer: Christopher Head

Breeder : Yeguada Centurion SLU

Rider: Aurélien Lemaître

In the fillies’ maiden of the day, the Prix des Closeaux form held since Blue Rose Cen (Churchill), fifth on that day, followed the leading Lady Mia (Outstrip), whom she took over in the straight to win by two lengths. Pink Pong (Acclamation) finished third at four lengths, three lengths ahead of the favourite, the supplemented beginner Burmese Ruby (War Front).

Blue Rose Cen is the first foal out of Queen Blossom (Jeremy), a winner for her debut in Ireland at 2 who also won a Group 3 at 3, again in Ireland, before continuing her career in the USA at the end of the year and seizing another Group 3 at 5! The second dam is Mark of an Angel (Mark of Esteem), a Group 3-placed in Ireland.

The latter has had a large number of foals on sale including Queen Blossom, bought €15,000 as a yearling by Paddy Prendergast at Goffs Ireland before returning to the ring at the Tattersalls breeding sales in 2018, where she went the Durcan Bloodstock for £110,000. She joined the Yeguada Centurion SLU which took her to Churchill in 2019.

ZUDU SPIRIT (f2), IRE by Zoustar ex Sudu Queen (Invincible Spirit)

Prix de la Reine Blanche (Unraced 2-year-old fillies, 1,100m/5.5f straight), June 19, Chantilly

Owner: Montgomery Moto

Trainer: Maurice Delcher-Sanchez

Breeder: China Horse Club International

Rider: Tony Piccone

The fastest out of the stalls, Zudu Spirit (Zoustar) left no one to lead this field of five beginners, flanked by the supplemented Comtesse du Barry (Davirsim) and followed by the favourite Real Cecile (Havana Grey) on the stands’ side. The latter came by 2 out and looked like she would gobble up the front runner but as soon as Tony Piccone asked her to pick up again, Zudu Spirit took the upper hand again and finally won easily, by two lengths, over Real Cecile and Amanda's Choice (Brazen Beau), who finished well at 3/4 of length.

Zudu Spirit is the second foal out of Sudu Queen (Invincible Spirit), bought € 58,000 at the Goffs Orby sales in September 2021 by Montgomery Motto. The dam never ran but she is out of a two-time Listed winner in Germany, also dam of several winners at the same level, and Group-placed. The third dam was placed in the German One Thousand Guineas (Gr2).

After Zudu Spirit, Sudu Queen gave a Dark Angel colt, then a Le Havre filly

GRECIAN STAR (c2), IRE by Sea The Moon ex Dalila (Rock of Gibraltar)

Prix de la Cité du Figuier (Maiden 2-year-old colts and geldings, 1,300m/6.5f), June 9, ParisLongchamp

Owners: Catherine Kairis, Tolmi Racing Sc, Nightchill Llc 1

Trainer: Stéphane Wattel

Breedrs: Scea Marmion Vauville, Catherine Kairis, Nightchill Llc

Rider: Théo Bachelot

Grecian Star (Sea The Moon) had only run once, at Chantilly, finishing third in a solid beginners' race, the Prix du Coq Chantant, whose winner Vicious Harry (Harry Angel) since finished second in the Prix La Flèche (Listed) while the 2nd-placed Neversay (No Nay Never) went on to win at ParisLongchamp.

The favourite Grecian Star followed the same trend and was ridden patiently at the rear while Ciao Pa’ (Shamalgan) was leading a few lengths ahead of the field. Grecian Star came by in the final straight and won handily by one and a half lengths, beating the front runner and Empathic (Showcasing), over 4 lengths behind. The only beginner in the race, Sea Urchin (Seahenge) closed nicely, coming from far off the pace to post the best fraction from 4 to 3 furlongs out in 11’’53.

By German sire Sea The Moon (Sea The Stars) out of three Italian black-type mare Dalila (Rock of Gibraltar), Grecian Star is her second foal between a Maxios filly who mostly ran in Germany and a Churchill yearling brother.

The 2nd dam Douala (Dubawi) also got her black-type in Italy and she foaled Drummer (Duke of Marmalade), placed in several Group races in Germany. The 3rd dam Desca (Cadeaux Généreux) produced solid performers such as Dschahan (Oasis Dream), Semeur (Planteur) or Dilala (Makfi).

Dalila was bought in 2019 at the Arqana Breeding sales by SCEA Marmion, who spent €57,000  for the mare consigned by Fährhof, in foal of Grecian Star.

TERRESTRIAL (f2), IRE by Kingman ex Snakeless (Animal Kingdom)

Prix du Passage de l’Ancre (Maiden 2-year-old fillies, 1,300m/6.5f), June 9, ParisLongchamp

Owner: Flaxman Stables Ireland Ltd

Trainer: Pascal Bary

Breeder: Flaxman Stables Ireland Ltd

Rider: Stéphane Pasquier

4th for her debut, Terrestrial (Kingman) this time was driven next to the leader Barrameda (Recoletos) early on. She then stayed on well to resist the favourite Super Star (Anodin), finally beaten by a length. Two beginners, Fille du Roi (Belardo) and Giraffe (Territories), finished well in their wake, separated by a head about a length behind the second-placed. The best furlong in the race was awarded to Super Star, who ran 11’’20 to cover the second last fraction.

Terrestrial is the first foal out of Snakeless (Animal Kingdom), a winner at ParisLongchamp and a Listed Race 4th at Saint-Cloud. It's a typically international pedigree run by the Niarchos for several generations. The South African second dam Gypsy’s Warning (Mogok) is a triple Gr1-winner in South Africa and a multiple Grade 1-placed in the United States. She's also the sister of Surabo (Wolfhound), who also ran at the top level in Africa.

Snakeless, dam of Terrestrial in foal to Sea The Moon was unsold at the 2021 Goffs breeding sales at €62,000.

SLEVKA (f3), FRA by Shalaa ex Vadyska (So You Think)

Prix de l’Opéra Comique (Maiden 3-year-olds, 1,400 m/7f), June 2, ParisLongchamp

Owner: Alain Jathière

Trainer: Mauricio Delcher Sanchez

Breeder: Alain Jathière

Rider: Tony Piccone

Svelka (Shalaa) changed tactics and it seemed to work out well! She had previously finished three times in second place after travelling either in or behind the field but this time, she went ahead and easily held on to win by almost a length. The best impression, however, comes from Opalus Road (Goken)'s running, as she travelled most of the race in 6th and yet finished well in second, beating Snowblind (Fast Company) also by almost a length.

The favourite Darabir (Pivotal) was drawn wide and was relegated to the rear of the field, only staying on in 8th.

With a 60% strike rate in the top 5 in 2022, the Al Shaqab sire Shalaa (Invincible Spirit) keeps going strong. One of his best sons, Welwal, will compete in the Qatar Prix du Jockey Club.

Slevka's dam, Vadyska (So You Think), was unraced. Her two first foals, a Siyouni filly and Slevka, both took some money at the races. The 2-year-old Kovda (Sioux Nation) is in training at Carlos Laffon-Parias', and a Starspangledbanner yearling colt follows.

The second dam Rockatella (Rock of Gibraltar) is a dual Listed-winner in Italy and a Gr3-placed in Italy and France. The family goes back to winners in New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong and Britain, including Zeyaadah (Tamayuz), a Gr3 winner at Newcastle and a  Nassau Stakes (Gr1) 2nd.

Vadyska was bought for €100 000  in 2015 as a yearling by Jean-Claude Rouget. Her 2-year-old Le Havre sister was bought for £20,000 in May at Tattersalls by Michael Figge and Paul Harley.

DOLAYLI (c3), FRA by Siyouni ex Dolniya (Azamour)

Prix Mississipian (Unraced 3-year-old colts & geldings, 2,000m/1m2f), June 1st, Saint-Cloud

Owner: S.A. Aga Khan

Trainer: Francis-Henri Graffard

Breeder: S.A. Aga Khan

Rider: Christophe Soumillon

Despite a rather soft ground and a fast pace, the four main leaders ended in the four first place. Deputy Ruler (Elzaam) led with the favourite Dolayli (Siyouni) travelling on his outside, with Aregai (Le Havre) and Louvagny (Le Havre) following them. They all sprinted home but Dolayli proved too good for the others as he took the lead two furlongs out and beat Deputy Ruler by a small but comfortable length, the two others finishing at a further two lengths.

Dolayli is by Siyouni (Pivotal), whose offspring has already amassed almost €35m. In the first semester of 2022, he's leading the French sires' table, in prize money and number of wins with 40 successes and a 58% strike rate in the final 5.

Dolayli is in the Grand Prix de Paris (Gr1). He's out of Dolniya (Azamour), also bred and raced by the Aga Khan. A Prix de Malleret (Gr2) winner, she also took third place in the Prix Vermeille (Gr1) at 3, and won at 4 her best race, the Dubai Sheema Classic (Gr1), before being placed again in the Coronation Cup (Gr1) at Epsom and the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud (Gr1).

At stud, she has also given Dilawar (Dubawi), a Prix Quincey (Gr3) winner, and the dual Listed-placed Dolia (Invincible Spirit). It is the family of  Dalakhani (Darshaan) and Daylami (Doyoun), through the second dam, Daltawa (Miswaki).

Dolniya finally gave a filly named Doulama (Kingman) and a Frankel yearling colt.

In 2019, Dalkeya (Exceed And Excel), a maiden sister to the winner's dam, was sold at Arqana for € 250,000 by Haras de Montfort & Préaux.

DANNSA FLORA (f3), FRA by Highland Reel ex Afaf (Spectrum)

Prix Producer (Unraced 3-year-old fillies, 2,000m/1m2f), June 1st, Saint-Cloud

Owner: Ali Hakam & Mrs A. Hakam

Trainer: Mikel Delzangles

Breeder: Succession Zacharia Hakam

Rider: Gérald Mossé

The filly took pretty much the same time as the Prix Mississippian's colts to cover the 10-furlong trip, but the way the race unfolded was quite different. Favourite Kind Juliet (Frankel) got a good trip as she was always covered but she only briefly made some impression in the final straight and finished only 4th, 2.5 lengths behind the winner, and just ahead of Zarka (Dubawi), champion Zarkava (Zamindar)'s 10th foal.

Dannsa Flora (Highland Reel), however, won handily by a length after travelling outside the leaders. But the most remarkable trip was run by hr stablemate Sansa Bay (New Bay), still 8th with three furlongs to go, who run the last furlong in 11’19, the best furlong in the race. She managed to finish 2nd, beating Queen Clemence (Footstepsinthesand).

Dannsa Flora is a sister to Zack Hope (Araafa), who made almost €600,000 and is possibly the best foal out of Afaf (Spectrum), finishing 56 times in the first 5 home, twice in Listed events.

Afaf won the Prix Fille de L’air (Gr3) at Toulouse, also for trainer Mikel Delzangles and Dannsa Flora's owner. She's a sister to Zack Hall (Muhtathir) and Zack Dream (Dream Well), both black-typed, quite an achievement for their dam Halawa (Dancing Brave), who gave only 5 foals. One of their fillies, the unraced Hawala (Warning), gave 5 black-type performers, including Flag of Honour (Galileo) and Air Chief Marshal (Danehill Dancer).

Zack Hope was sold for €44,000 to Andi Wyss at the 2010 Arqana mixed sales. In the Summer of 2018, Yulong Investments and BBA Ireland teamed up to buy Nosongsosweet (Manduro), a 4-year-old sister to Dannsa Flora for € 30,000€.
