Sunday, March 28, 2021, Auteuil Racecourse (Paris). - Out for four months, and her placings in the Grande Course de Haies Hurdle Race (Gr1) and the Grand Prix d'Automne Hurdle Race (Gr1), the champion mare L'Autonomie (Blue Brazil), now 6, reassured her supporters in the €120,000 Hypothèse Hurdle Race (Gr3) ). Handy, always well placed next to a resolute Galop Marin (Black Sam Bellamy), Catherine Coiffier's homebred took the upper hand in the run-in to win by six lengths. Galop Marin ends up a good second, ten lengths ahead of the outsider Foudre Delta (Diamond Boy), who beat Loradame (Muhtathir) for the 3rd place. Paul's Saga (Martaline) faded after travelling with the leading duo. Porto Pollo (Manduro) was never a threat.
Trained by François Nicolle and partnered by Angelo Zuliani, L'Autonomie thus regains her place at the top of the top hurdling brigade at Auteuil, even if Polirico, winner of the Juigné Hurdle Race (Gr3) three weeks ago, was missing today.
The €350,000 Grande Course de Haies d´Auteuil (Gr1), scheduled for this season on May 22, looks very promising.
Prior to her two Autumn hiccups, L’Autonomie had won eight straight races, succeeding former stablemate De Bon Coeur at the top of Auteuil’s hurdling elite.
L’Autonomie is out of L’Automne (Kahyasi), winner of one single flat race in 18 attempts and claimed for € 12,000 by Catherine Coiffier after finishing seventh in her last public appearance. Her own dam L'Authie (Linamix), a sister of the Royal-Oak (Gr1) 3rd Cléty (Sillery), finished third in the Renaud du Vivier 4yo Hurdle Race (Gr1) and notably gave La Canche (Le Havre), a Listed-placed over the flat.
After L'Autonomie, L'Automne gave a Diamond Boy colt sold for € 30,000 to John Daniel Moore at the Arqana summer sales in 2018, and another foal by Diamond Boy born in 2018. She was presented at the Arqana sales of February 2015 full of L’Autonomie but had not reached her reserve price at € 7,000. L’Automne also gave birth to L’Autocrate (Kamsin), born in 2020.
