    Guiche: the new classic format

Six 3yo runners gather for the Prix de Guiche (Gr3), over 9 furlongs, on Wednesday at Chantilly on their way to the Prix du Jockey Club (Gr1), on July 5th.

How these young horses will do this season remains to be seen as this test will already give a few missing hints about their potential.

Irshad (Raven’s Pass) and Hurricane Cloud (Frankel) have nicely won their only race to date, while another has won like a star only to get thrashed after that, that is Another Sky (Le Havre). Pisanello (Raven’s Pass) was disappointing in the Prix de Fontainebleau Mile (Gr3), while his stablemate at Fabrice Chappet's yard, San Fabrizio (Siyouni), just won his first race at Lyon-Parilly.

Finally, Chachnak (Kingman) was scratched from the Prix Greffulhe (Gr2) on Saturday at Lyon, and he finished a good 3rd in the Prix La Force (Gr3), over this very trip, last time out …

    • 1. IRSHAD (c3, FRA by Raven’s Pass ex Indina, by Peintre Célèbre) Rating: -

He won for his debut at Saint-Cloud in very heavy ground, outstaying his foes after taking his time to find momentum. He was entered in easier options lately but his connections decided to try the best.

He's in the Prix du Jockey Club (Gr1) and the Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris (Gr1).

    • 2. CHACHNAK (c3, FRA by Kingman ex Tamazirte, by Danehill Dancer) Rating: 100lbs

His dam finished second in the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (French 1,000 Guineas, Gr1) and the Prix de Diane (French Oaks, Gr1), and he started his own career with a maiden win at Vichy, confirmed in a Class 1 race on this very course. Sixth in the Qatar Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère (Gr1), then in a Marseilles Listed, he finished third for his return and in the Prix La Force (Gr3), three lengths behind Océan Atlantique, winner of the Prix de Suresnes (L) since.

He was scratched last Saturday from the Prix Greffulhe (Gr2) and is entered in the Prix du Jockey Club (Gr1).

    • 3. SAN FABRIZIO (c3, FRA by Siyouni ex Ponte Sanangelo, by Authorized) Rating: 92lbs

Fourth for his debut in August at Deauville in a hot beginners' race, he then finished 3rd at three and a half lengths behind the now-classic winner Victor Ludorum. he has just won from start to post at Lyon-Parilly for his comeback.

He's in the Prix du Jockey Club (Gr1).

    • 4. PISANELLO (c3, IRE by Raven’s Pass ex Painting, by Peintre Célèbre) Rating: 106lbs

Pulled up early for his debut, his rider fearing an injury, he did not reappear until three months later and won what would be his only complete race of the year. Back this season in Saint-Cloud for the Prix Omnium II (L), he won bravely. In the Prix de Fontainebleau (Gr3), he led until one out and faded then. This is one furlong longer.

He's in the prix du Jockey Club (Gr1).

    • 5. HURRICANE CLOUD (c3, GB by Frankel ex Gooseley Chope, by Indian Rocket) Rating: -

The favourite in a beginners' race over the mile at Saint-Cloud, he won nicely, beating horses, some of which have won since.

He's in the Prix du Jockey Club (Gr1) and the Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris (Gr1).

    • 6. ANOTHER SKY (c3, FRA by Le Havre ex Darkova, by Maria’s Mon) Rating: -

An easy winner of his first race, over Chantilly's all-weather, in March over 9.5 furlongs, he, however, finished only 4th after that in the Prix La Force (Gr3), 2.5 lengths behind the 3rd-placed Chachnak, whom he will be facing again here. He's a brother to the great Almanzor, winner of a Prix du Jockey Club (Gr1)  after also winning this very race, but three races at 2 as well!

He's in the Prix du Jockey Club (Gr1) and the Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris (Gr1).
