France Galop Gr1 entries prices and timing revised

France Galop has streamlined the price of entries in Group 1 races in a bid to support broader participation, introducing a consistent entry rate set at 0.65% of the races’ prizemoney. Only the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and the French Classics (Poules d’Essai, Jockey Club and Diane) will retain a specific entry price as they close well in advance.
This measure will lower the fares of fifteen Group 1 races out of a total of twenty-one events concerned.

The closing of the entries will also be brought forward to five weeks instead of three. This is a reflection of the Qatar Arc de Triomphe weekend Group 1 and 2 race conditions, which have drawn positive returns over the years.
More entries should help to sustain the funding of the races. Such a move could also raise the public’s interest in the preceding trials.
