Thursday, March 23, 2017, Saint-Cloud racecourse. - Trained by Philippe Sogorb in Mont-de-Marsan in the Sout West of France, Evabienchope (Captain Chope) won the Prix du Début Kendargent, the first unraced 2yo of the Parisian season (claimers excluded) in a good style. Ridden by Pierre-Charles Boudot, the handosme, Alain Chopard-bred filly passed the post a length and a half ahead of Get Even (Multiplex), trained in Lambourn in England by Joanna Hughes.
Evabienchope races for Haras de Colleville owner Guy Pariente, the new sponsor of this race through the stud's leading sire Kendargent. Haras de Colleville and France Galop have just announced a partnership for four races for 2017, including this Prix du Début Kendargent. The next stages are:
- Prix de la Grotte Etalon Kendargent (Gr3, 3yoF), April 16th at Chantilly;
- Prix de la Vallée d'Auge Stallion Kendargent (LR, 2yo), August 15th at Deauville;
- Prix des Réservoirs Etalon Kendargent (Gr3, 2yoF), October 18th at Deauville.
With this agreement, France Galop intends to promote French breeding through one of the country's leading sires.
Olivier Delloye, General Manager of France Galop, welcomes a partnership "highlighting a sire that has vastly contributed to French breeding success in recent seasons. Two of the selected races are run in Deauville in August and October, the right time to promote a sire along the main French yearlings sales. Finally, it is quite fitting to see Kendargent associated with the Prix de la Grotte since his daughter Kenhope won it in 2013."
Guy Pariente, owner of the Haras de Colleville, declared: "We are very happy to sponsor these 4 races, highlighting our World class sire KENDARGENT. We wanted him to be associated to top races. I hope that this first agreement with France Galop will be extended over the years."
