Sunday, July 4, 2021, Saint-Cloud Racecourse. - Revelaed last Winter at Cagnes-sur-Mer where he won his maiden and another race over the Riviera all-weather, Pretty Tiger (Sea the Moon) also won after that for his Parisian debut at Saint-Cloud in the Prix François Mathet (L), over 10.5f. He had also won the Prix Noailles (Gr3) but had been demoted behind the well-rated Cheshire Academy, an unlucky 5th in the Qatar Prix du Jockey Club, just beating Pretty Tiger, who finished sixth in that French Derby.

Fast ahead there, as Christophe Soumillon led him to the fore in a 5-strong Prix Eugène Adam (Gr2), the colt owned by Bernard Giraudon and trained by Fabrice Vermeulen was kept out of reach of his main challenger, the unbeaten Caprice des Dieux (Declaration of War). Soumillon had set a moderate pace, as the tracking data confirms. Despite a 2nd last furlong in 11’’07, Caprice des Dieux was unable to threaten the winner, who also ran that portion in 11’’09… A good 3rd at a further 2 lengths, Adhamo (Intello) ran the last 3 furlongs almost as fast as the two first home. However, they were separated by a short head at Chantilly, and there are now 4 lengths between Pretty Tiger and Adhamo …

Pretty Tiger was born in Ireland but bred in France by Chevotel de la Hauquerie. Sold to Oceanic Bloodstock (Michel Zerolo) for € 105,000 at the 2019 August sale. Last October, his Camelot brother was sold for €95,000 to Joseph O’Brien via Kerri Radcliffe. He has just run his first race and finished 2nd at the Curragh. He's also in the National Stakes (Gr1). As for Pretty Tiger, he's in the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (Gr1). Both hail from a Germanbred family via their 2nd dam Très Rapide (Anabaa Blue), once 2nd in a Prix de Royallieu (Gr2).
