The English team hit hard on the French on Sunday at Saint-Cloud as Headman (Kingman) dominated - and how! - the 1m2f Prix Eugène Adam (Gr2) after the Prix de Malleret and the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud also crossed the Channel.
Traind by Roger Charlton for owner-breeder Khalid Abdullah, Headman won by three lengths, dominating Goldolphin's Jalmoud (New Approach), who himself finished clearly ahead of the French favourite Flop Shot (New Approach), beaten three and a half lengths for the second place ...
Headman is a brother to Delivery (Rail Link), a maiden winner with André Fabre and a second-placed in the Gr3 Prix Chloe . Their dam Deliberate (King's Best), also a winner in France, is a sister to international champion Flintshire (Dansili), a big good ground fan.
Headman began with a win in November last year, then was defeated by Zakouski, a Godolphin inmate who spent the winter with a champion's reputation. Sixth for his return over 1m2f on soft ground, Headman won a month later on the same distance but on good ground, before being scratched lately at Ascot due to the soft ground in the Hampton Court Stakes (Gr3), a rival race of the Prix Eugène Adam.
In other words, we do not yet know exactly what he is worth.
