Sunday, September 4, 2022, ParisLongchamp Racecourse (Paris). – Very unlucky for her debut in Chantilly, where she was stuck by the rail to the end, Tigrais (Outstrip) came back only 20 days later and made amends, over the same 7 furlong-trip but at Deauville racecourse, winning by nearly three lengths. She was then sold by her breeder Christophe Brun to OTI Management and Gérard Augustin-Normand. She, therefore, started in her first Group race, in this Prix La Rochette (Gr3), for her new connections, but still in training with Christopher Head.
Once again held in the rear in this field of five, Tigrais this time gradually overcame the favourite Breizh Sky (Pedro the Great), until then undefeated in two outings and who conceded only a short head near the post. Third after briefly challenging the leaders one furlong out, Gamestop (Lope de Vega) only stayed on in third at almost three lengths. Tigrais is the first foal out of the unraced Maharana (Iffraaj), sold for €47,000 as a yearling and then €50,000 at the Deauville breeze-up to Christopher Head. She is a descendant of Miss Satamixa, winner of the Prix Jacques le Marois (Gr1). After Tigrais, Maharana gave a colt and a filly by Cloth of Stars.
Tigrais is entered in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère (Gr1), also over 7 furlongs.
