October 2, 2022, ParisLongchamp Racecourse (Paris). – Out for 105 days and her Prix de Diane Longines (Gr1) 10th place, Place du Carrousel (Lope de Vega) came from nowhere, almost litterally, to beat the best 3yo filly in Europe this season, that is the favourite Nashwa (Frankel), in the €500,000 Prix de l’Opéra Longines (Gr1). Ridden positively by Hollie Doyle, Nashwa, who'd won the Nassau Stakes (Gr1) at Goodwood after her French Oaks victory, took the lead at the top of the course and her rider tried to hold her a bit from then on to leave her a chance. She was followed by Tuesday (Galileo) and Above the Curve (American Pharoah), when La Parisienne (Zarak) moved forward outside with Trevaunance (Muharaar) and Rumi (Frankel). Place du Carrousel was still far back then and she had to slalom in between horses through the field to challenge the favourite and, eventually, beat her by a small length. A brave Above the Curve stayed on in third at a short head. La Parisienne didn't stay on while coming from too far to keep a chance; the other unlucky story of the Diane, Rosacea (Soldier Hollow), did not have a run.

Place du Carrousel was 2nd in the Prix Saint-Alary (Gr1) won by Above the Curve in the Spring, after winning the Prix Cléopâtre (Gr3). She's the first foal out of Traffic Jam (Duke of Marmalade), a multiple Group-placed trained by Nicolas Clément who finished her career with a Prix du Conseil de Paris (Gr2) win. Nicolas Clément trains the Dubawi 2-year-old sister to Place du Carrousel, named Nariman Point.

The 4th dam is Hiwaayati (Shadeed), dam of Hoity Toity (Darshaan), who gave Lillie Langtry (Danehill), a dual Group 1 winner who foaled the champion Minding (Galileo) and Empress Josephine (Galileo).

Place du Carrousel's Kingman yearling sister is listed in the Tattersalls yearling sale later this month.
