October 1st, 2022, ParisLongchamp Racecourse (Paris). – Anmaat (Awtaad) prevailed in the dying stages of a tense struggle with his French challenger Junko (Intello), who closed over him for the €200,000 Qatar Prix Dollar (Gr2)'s winning prize. Led by Parol (Pastorius) and Grocer Jack (Oasis Dream), the race remained wide open until the last furlong, as the two main players went head to head, leaving West Wind Blows (Teofilo) keep third place after travelling near the pace along the rail. Jack Grocer stayed on in fourth at a length and a half.
Trained in Britain for Shadwell, the 4-year-old Anmaat has run 10 times and never missed the podium. Yet it was only his second Group race after winning the Rose of Lancaster Stakes (Gr3) at Haydock. Bred by Ringfort Stud in Ireland, Anmaat was bought for £140,000 as a weanling at Tattersalls in England. Then he was withdrawn from the HIT sale at Newmarket at 3. His 3rd dam Galla Placidia (Crystal Palace), bred in France by the Adès family, won the Grand Prix d’Evry (Gr2).
