€200,000 Qatar Daniel Wildenstein (Gr2): Timely update for Ramadan

ParisLongchamp, France – October 5, 2024 – Favored Alcantor (New Bay) was unable to hold off the late charges of Ramadan (Le Havre) and Andromède (Sea the Stars) in Saturday’s Prix Daniel Wildenstein (Gr2) at ParisLongchamp.
After encountering some bad luck in the spring classics, Alcantor tracked the pacesetter Glady Tiger (Zoffany) before making his bid for the lead in the stretch. However, Ramadan, who had been stalking him throughout, proved too strong in the final furlong, getting up for the victory. Andromède, who appeared to have the race in hand at one point, finished a close third.
Ramadan is in the Arqana Arc sale, on the eve of this race.
He is the fifth foal out of the mare Raushan (Dalakhani), who made three starts at age 3 for owner Nurlan Bizakov. Bizakov purchased Raushan for £400,000 at the Tattersalls yearling sale. She hails from an excellent family, as her second dam is a sister to a Prix de Diane winner and the dam of multiple champions. Raushan’s first foal, Rasima (Iffraaj), was Group 3-placed and a Listed winner at Lingfield. She raced 19 times over three seasons with consistent success until her final, less consistent campaign. In addition to Ramadan, Raushan has produced a 2022 filly by Showcasing in training with Henri-Alex Pantall, a 2023 colt by Wootton Bassett, and a 2014 filly by Golden Horde.
