Auteuil, France – November 16, 2024 – The hot favourite for the €183,000 Haras d'Étreham Prix Magalen Bryant (Gr2) hurdle race for 3-year-old fillies at Auteuil, Olympic Story (Masked Marvel), was quick to take the lead. Beaten for the first time after three initial successes at Auteuil, Olympic Story had just lost to Zaine, who was absent here, and more than eight punters out of ten thought she would take easy revenge here. This scenario did not hold up, though. The filly first made a mistake on the backstretch, which allowed the pack led by Mamisuz de Houelle (Beaumec de Houelle) to regain contact. In the last turn, she picked up again but could not pull away, so at the second-last hurdle, Mamisuz de Houelle and Diamond du Berlais (Zarak) went on the attack. The former took the lead at the last, where her rider, Gaëtan Masure, lost an iron. Now riding without one, he could nevertheless urge his filly on to keep two lengths clear while Diamond du Berlais remained 3rd, a length behind.
Mamisuz de Houelle carries the colours of F&O Hinderze Racing in partnership with the filly's breeder, Franck Leblanc, for whom her sire, Beaumec de Houelle, raced. The dam, Raya Hope (Robin des Champs), ran twice in bumpers in England, finishing 5th once. She was bought for €32,000 at Arqana from Simon Munir and Isaac Souede by Bertrand Le Métayer in December 2018 at the age of 7, in foal to Masked Marvel. Four of her six foals have won, including the first two for her previous owners. Bred three times to Franck Leblanc's home stallion, she produced Safille de Houelle, winner of four races and nearly €82,000, then Mamisuz and a colt, Pauliac de Houelle, aged 2.
