Auteuil, France – October 13, 2024 – Previously unbeaten in three starts over hurdles, Olympic Story (Masked Marvel) was sent off as the favourite to win again, this time in the €135,000 Prix Magne 3yo Fillies Hurdle (Gr3) over 2m2f, a hurdle race for 3-year-old fillies. The Prix de Chambly (Gr3) winner, conceding three kilos, tracked pacesetter Lafayette (Zarak) and jumped the second-to-last hurdle, at the end of the final turn, alongside Zaine (Saint des Saints), who had been shadowing her until then. Zaine, beaten a neck in their previous encounter, this time dominated in the final stages. The representative of the Papot family won by nine lengths, with Zaine remaining a good second, more than four lengths ahead of the blameless Lafayette.
Second in June at Clairefontaine on her debut, Zaine had won a month later over the same hurdle course as her debut, before her second place in the "Chambly."
Bred by Benoît Gabeur, she is the result of a cross between a mare bred by the Aga Khan, Zaidiyna (Azamour), a winner at Maisons-Laffitte and herself a daughter of the champion filly Zainta, and Saint des Saints, who has just retired. Zaidiyna was sold for €82,000 in December 2017, in foal to Olympic Glory – the filly she was carrying, named Zarbi by Benoît Gabeur, raced only once. Zaine is the mare's eighth foal. A 2-year-old filly by Kapgarde is one to watch.
