The Deauville Barrière meeting begins this weekend with two high class cards including a Group 1 and three Group 3 events.
On Sunday, the Prix Rothschild (Gr1) opens the ball of the five Groups 1 run every Summer in Deauville. A mile race open to fillies and mares aged 3yo and more, it brings together some of the best European famel milers to succeed Roly Poly, the previous winner of the race for Ireland. The contest will also serve as a first step in the Tournoi des Nations, an international challenge between the nations represented in a series of fourteen Group and Listed races from July 29 to August 19 (list of events below).
The Darley Prix de Cabourg (Gr3), the second stage of the #DarleySeries after the Darley Prix Robert Papin (Gr2) won last Sunday at Maisons-Laffitte by the English filly Signora Cabello, is the other main race of the day. It's a 2yos, 6 furlongs race that has often been won by sgtars in the making: Dabirsim in 2011 before his memorable Darley Prix Morny, or Ervedya in 2014, less than a year before her victorious Prix de Diane Longines (Gr1).
On Saturday, the Prix Six Perfections (Gr3), freshly promoted a Group 3 race, gathers eight 2-year-old fillies over 7 furlongs. The Prix de Psyche (Gr3) for 3yo Fillies over 1 1/4 mile is a nice opportunity for Homerique (Exchange Rate) to bounce after her 3rd place in the Prix de Diane Longines ...
Nine speedsters will also compete in Prix du Cercle (L) over 5 furlongs.
Remember that this summer, 19 Premium meetings are held in Deauville-Touques, and ten on the nearby course of Clairefontaine, which also showcase jumps races.
