Thursday, May 2, 2019, Chantilly. – The Prix de Suresnes (L), for 3-year-olds over 1m2f, is not a Listed race like any other. The 2019 edition reminds us of this because its winner, Sottsass (Siyouni), who won by six and a half lengths on the day, would win the QIPCO Prix du Jockey Club (Gr1) a month later, beating the favourite Persian King. He finished the season as the best-rated European 3-year-old after finishing third in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. His return is expected on Monday 11 May in the Prix d'Harcourt (Gr2).
The Prix de Suresnes has changed a lot over the past twenty years. It has been run from April to June and from 9 to 10.5 furlongs. It was run in 2019 for the second year in Chantilly after a few editions at Maisons-Laffitte.
The last winner of the Jockey Club also a winner of this race is Vision d'État, who won both races in 2008.
