Jayson Werth, racehorse owner and Netflix star in Race for the Crown
Former Major League Baseball champion Jayson Werth will be travelling to Deauville on Sunday, 24 August 2025, to cheer on his American trained colt Outfielder in his bid to lift the prestigious Sumbe Prix Morny. The Group 1 over the 1200m straight is one of the undisputed highlights of the 2025 Deauville Barrière Meeting.
Werth, a 2008 World Series Champion with the Philadelphia Phillies, fell in love with horseracing following a stellar MLB career.
Now a standout personality in the recent American Netflix series Race for the Crown, Werth admits in one of the episodes that he was searching for the same adrenaline rush he experienced on the baseball field – and found it unexpectedly at the racecourse!
“Horse racing is the most underrated sport on the planet,” Jayson Werth says, describing the incredible emotions and thrills he now experiences as a racehorse owner.
