921 classic entries in the 2019 French classics

921 entries were received by France Galop on Wednesday morning to compete in the six main French classics of 2019. This is exactly the same number as in 2018. However, the distribution of these entries has changed.
Entries increase noticeably in two of these events: the Qipco Prix du Jockey Club (Gr1), which rose from 173 to 187 (+ 8%) and the Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris (Gr1), with 147 candidates against 133 last year, an increase of almost 11% while the price of the supplementation entry was singularly reduced since it has been lowered from €43,200 to €15,000.
The entries in The Emirates Poules d'Essai (Gr1) and the Prix de Diane Longines (Gr1) are stable. The mile classics show 119 (Poulains) and 134 (Pouliches) candidates, while 189 fillies line up for the Chantilly showpiece, one more than in 2018.
In total, € 1,904,450 was paid to the pool for these six races, an increase of 1.43% compared to the € 1,877,550 collected last year, when some entry fee had be re-evaluated.
Sixteen of the nineteen best European Juveniles of the 2018 season, including the top thirteen, are in at least one of these races, eight competing in at least two races.
