August 20, 2022, Deauville-La Touques Racecourse (Calvados). – Only nine days after her last race, which she won over 7 furlongs at Dax, Wed (Profitable) registered a fast double in style over the Prix du Calvados (Gr2) straight. Trained at La Teste-de-Buch by Maurizio Guarnieri, she beat the two raiding favourites, Sparkling Beauty (Oasis Dream) for Britain and Never Ending Story (Dubawi) for Ireland. The latter led the middle field while Wed waited on the grandstand side -not the fastest part of the straight course lately- behind Anna Karenine (Toronado) and Vernet (Caravaggio), who finally joined the leading, mid-course group three out. Never Ending Story came by Sparkling Beauty first and even seemed to take over but Wed soon loomed on the inside and she quickly dominated the situation.

Wed was bought for €32,000 at last October's sales in Deauville, where Federico Barberini signed the slip. She now races for Mohammed Al Shahi, and her second dam is none other than a sister to the Dubai World Cup winner and famed sire Street Cry (Machiavellian), out of the Irish Oaks winner Helen Street (Troy), also second, third or fourth dam of Shamardal, Territories, Victor Ludorum... who all cost infinitely more than €32,000! Profitable, the winning sire is a King's Stands' Stakes (Gr1) winner at Royal Ascot.
