Another victory for Great Britain and the Godolphin Blues in the Prix Bertrand du Breuil Longines (Gr3). Vintager (Mastercraftsman), who hasn’t won for a year, showed his class and proved superior to his rivals. He managed to pull away strongly when challenged by Trais Fluors (Dansili). Trais Fluors finished ahead of Lunch Lady (Sharmadal) who tried to follow the winner in his efforts and finished third.

The race

What they said:

James Doyle (rider of Vintager, 1st)

“We have been struggling a bit to find his ideal distance, but the mile suits him perfectly. The rhythm helped him a bit, he didn’t have to do all the work up front. He was quite brave and even pulled away again when Trais Fluors came to him. Trais Fluors is a good horse so its encouraging for us to have beaten him.”

Andreas Putsch (owner of Trais Fluors, 2nd)

“He didn’t get out of the stalls well, so from the start he had ground to make up. The winner fought hard and held us off right until the end. I think that we possibly lost the race at the start today. We will now go and speak to the trainer about where to go next.”

Freddy Head (trainer of Lunch Lady, 3rd)

“She has ran a good race and stuck to the job well. I didn’t put the blinkers on her the last time because she ran over 2,000 m, I think that we will go to Deauville with her”
