Delaware (Frankel) did better than confirm his recent Listed success as he flew away in Deauville on Saturday in the Shadwell Prix Daphnis (Gr3) mile race. Khalid Abdullah's homebred left the field stunned getting into the straight line. He crossed the wire on the bit four lengths ahead of the second-placed Dave (Wootton Bassett), who followed the leaders from the start along the rail. Last time they met, Delaware beat Dave by three and a half lengths.
Urwald (Le Havre) pulled hard early on and Pierre-Charles Boudot's saddle slipped forward, so that the rider could no longer hold him.
Delaware is out of Zatsfine (Oasis Dream), winner in Dieppe over 7 furlongs. She is a daughter of Binche (Woodman), hence a sibling to group winners Proviso (Dansili) and Byword (Famous Painter).
